A positive weekend at Brands Hatch for Nikki Coates as he finally started to get to grips with the MackRory Racing Zx6 , Nikki started the weekend with some great laps in warm up and Qualifying and battled during race 1 for 16th position finishing just out of the points , as things hotted up on the track Nikki went out for Race 2 knowing a good start would see him amongst the pack , after a 5 bike battle for 13th Position Nikki finished the race at the front and came home 13th picking up vital championship points ,Nikki now hopes that the good form can move on to Oulton Park and see him break into the top 10 where he feels he should be.
A Frustrating weekend for Nikki at Knockhill Circuit as he returned from injury to ride the Mackrory Racing Kawasaki , Nikki worked hard during Practice and Qualifying to find a setup to suit the short but physical circuit , After qualifying in 21st Position for the Sprint Race Nikki managed to make up 4 places to 17th before the Race was Red Flagged for Rain , with a few changes overnight Nikki lined up for Sundays main race and started well , mid distance he began to suffer from arm pump and had to retire from the race , although dissapointed Nikki moves on to Snetterton in July hoping for a better run of luck
A mixed weekend for Nikki Coates as he worked extremely hard with team to push forward with the Bike Setup from Brands Hatch, Nikki progressed every session and was beginning to gel with the bike and Team, Saturdays Qualifying saw Nikki qualify in 20th position, with rain cancelling out Saturday afternoons Race Nikki was left with two races on Sunday, the first race a 10 lap sprint Nikki made a blistering start and was up to 12th position when the race was stopped for an incident involving Glen Richards bike on the start/finish straight, positions were rolled back to last lap and Nikki was demoted to 13th, but from 20th to 13th in 7 Laps was a great achievment, Race 2 told a slightly different story as Nikki starting from 14th on the grid made headway in a pack of 5 riders battling for positions, Nikki managed to get to the front and up into 13th Position chasing down Scott Smart in 12th when Nikki lost control at the Club Chicane, Nikki was taken to the Medical Centre suffering a Broken Shoulderblade, Nikki would like to thank the Marshalls and Medical Team at Thruxton for their speedy response and treatment he received.
A tough weekend for Nikki Coates at Brands Hatch as he battled his way to 16th and 15th position in the weekends two British Supersport Championship Races , on board his Mackrory Racing Kawasaki Nikki with very little time on the bike prior to Round 1 battled his way to 22nd Position in Qualifying , after making a few changes to the bikes setup Nikki finished 16th in Race 1 after running with Low Engine Power, with a fresh engine in for Race 2 Nikki made a great start and was catching riders ahead until mid race his exhaust bracket detached causing him to drop a couple of vital places but still managing to bring the bike home in 15th claiming 1 Championship Point , as always Nikki left Brands Hatch with a smile and is already looking forward to Thruxton next Weekend.
“Very tough weekend overall but we made big improvements over the weekend and by the end of it we were competitive only 0.7 off lap record and had I started a bit further up the grid I could of been battling well into the top 10. Hope to get engine stronger this week also as we lacked a bit of straight line speed so onwards and upwards”.
